Greetings
Just a few words to update you on the progress of this ministry. First, we are grateful to Barry David and the Elders at Landmark Community Church for loaning us the original master tapes containing Dr. David D. Allen’s sermons. We have been transferring the original cassette tapes to digital files for over a year and a half now and have successfully transferred over 1700 of Pastor Allen’s sermons. Keep in mind that they have to be transferred in real time one at a time. We have focused more on this part of the process rather than add sermons to the site because of the age of the tapes. We felt that time would be best spent on the preservation of the existing sermons on these very old tapes before they deteriorate any further. The earliest sermons we have found so far on these cassettes are from 1972.
The next step in this process is to enhance the sound quality to make them sound as current as possible. To do this we remove all background noise such as tape hiss, broadband noise and other unwanted noise from deterioration. We use state of the art noise reduction software that is currently used in the film industry. Once the unwanted noise is removed to the best of our ability the next step is to balance and mix the sound using a very sophisticated recording studio software program with various equalizer/ mixers etc. to get the best possible and most consistent sound we can. We always keep the original untouched file so we can always go back if need be and start from scratch. The sound quality on the original “Master” tapes various dramatically from tape to tape and with this hardware and software we have obtained, we can get most of Pastor Allen’s dialog sounding pretty good. There is a huge learning curve to operating this and we are learning more and more all the time. We want these sermons to sound as pleasant as possible to listen to. The Titus series has had all of this done.
The Holy Spirit has led Pastor Allen’s sermons across the Atlantic Ocean to John Doyle of Cape Missions in South Africa. Cape Missions oversees and helps out over 180 Pastors and Leaders in that country. Many of these Pastors and leaders do not have a formal education but have a huge heart for the Lord. Pastor Allen’s clear and concise expository teaching brings an education to these faithful people. We have sent discs with The Gospel of John, Ephesians and the Titus sermon series to Cape Missions. Cape Missions then makes copies of these discs and distributes them to the Pastors and Leaders. Hundreds of discs with Pastor Allen’s sermons have been distributed so far and well received. This we pray is just the beginning.
“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11
We will also be adding much of Chuck Ohman’s brilliant music to the site. We keep in regular contact with Mr. Ohman and have his blessing to use his music. If you have not done so yet. Click on over to the music section and listen to Chuck’s version of “He Hideth My Soul.” When I listen to that my mind drifts back the old auditorium services. Absolutely fantastic!
The image on the home page is a shot I took of the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Calpe Spain. The rock jetting out of the sea is so majestic and far to the right is this little boat. Just seemed like a fitting image for this site.
Ralph Greenhow from Winnetka Bible Church near Chicago will be adding blogs at this spot regularly so check back often. Ralph and his wife Miriam are originally from Windsor Canada and often listened to Pastor Allen on the radio back in the day.
Please continue to pray for this ministry, we need your prayers.
We were members of Calvary Baptist Church freom 1971-1975, and greatly benefitted from Pastor Allen’s faithful teaching of the Scriptures. Thank you for making these messages and the music available. It is so good to hear Pastor Allen’s voice again, and to learn from his exposition of the Bible. May God bless you as you continue the work you have begun.
Thank you for creating this great website! I was a member of Calvary Baptist Church from 1974 – 1987. For the past few years I was really missing Dr. Allen’s great expository teaching and spiritually inspiring messages. His Bible teachings and memorization of scripture has been such an influence for our local community for decades. It was like being a student at a Bible college. I was thinking of going to Landmark Community Church to ask them if they had any updated copies of Dr. Allen’s sermons because I only had cassette tapes of his teachings. So I googled his name and your website appeared. Now, Dr. Allen’s teachings will benefit the world, thanks to your dedication.
Dr. David D. Allen and Dr. Charles A. Ohman made a great team and impact for the Lord!
I am so grateful for all you work and am looking forward to more additions to Dr. Allen’s website.
I would be willing to donate to this great cause.
Thank you, again!

I attended Calvary Baptist from 1957 to 1964 under Pastor Allen’s Teachings. I won’t be able to hear the Corinthian letters. but I still remember them. I remember one night when Chuck Ohman came to the end of one of his trumpet pieces and sensing he was not able to make the high note at the end of the music – he stopped, came to the microphone and said “For those of you that want to hear the last note you will need to come back next week.”
Some fond memories I have.
Toward the end of his messages Pastor Allen was well into his 80’s and his mind and voice were still sharp.

So thrilled to find this site and I know that I will be, once again, strengthened and encouraged when I listen to the various messages presented by Pastor Allen. I was raised in Calvary and so many of the people there were to us, family. Both of my parents taught, my father, Gordon Bailey taught the Ambassador Class and my mother Betty Bailey taught a young girls class. And, to this day, there is rarely much time that will pass without my being reminded of all that I received from attending Calvary. Not only was that where I came to know the Lord as my Saviour but also my entire life I have experienced the Holy Spirit bring to mind the many verses that I memorized as part of our Sunday and Wednesday classes as the answers to everything in life, just as Pastor always promised would be the case. And, time and time again, so many of the songs that I find myself sing through out the day, I can clearly see Chuck leading us and I can hear the sound of our wonderful congregation singing the comforting, encouraging words of so many wonderful hymns and choruses! What a special place, what a wonderful time… all of those years at Calvary Baptist. I remain thankful beyond words.

Kathleen my name is Terry Good and my Sunday School teacher was a fellow named Gordon Bailey in a class call the Ambassadors. This fellow was teaching in the Book of Revelations and it was my first week in the class and I was overwhelmed by the information and the old worn out Bible he used. The next week I was ready before my wife and wanted to get back to the class to hear that fellow again and when he gave the invitation my hand went up changing the course of my life. Off to Detroit Bible Collage and preaching on the streets of Detroit with Fred Hix and Bob Johnson. Many years latter I looked up your dad’s phone number and called him when he was living down south and he remembered me when I raised my hand. I ask if he still had that old Bible and he sadly said no someone broke into my trailer and took my Bible. It is such a blessing to see the hand of GOD move and arrange our lives. Your thanking my son for what he is doing and he wouldn’t be doing what he is doing if it wasn’t for your Dad. May God Bless you as we march home.
I am so blest and thankful that I came across these sermons that Pastor Allen preached all those years ago. I remember hearing Pastor Allen when I was a student at Cedarville College (now University). I learned that my husband’s parents (Allen and Genevieve Rhodes) attended Calvary Baptist when Pastor Allen was pastor there. I fervently thank the Lord that these messages are on line now. THANK YOU! Mrs. Nora (Irwin) Rhodes
Terry Good, thank you so much for your interesting and kind comments. Sorry that it has taken me so long to reply. My Dad’s earthly journey ended in 2004, but I did call my Mom and we both rejoiced, (and cried), at the reading of your post.
By the way, currently I can’t seem to get the messages to play. I was wondering is your son is still maintaining this site? I had really been enjoying the messages.
A co-worker witnessed to me in the 70’s; explained the Gospel of Jesus Christ and encouraged me to read the Bible. Start with the gospel of John he said…… if you have questions he would do his best to answer them. He was attending Calvary Baptist and was greatly motivated to memorize Scripture as Pastor Allen had done. He had memorized many books of the New Testament so he was well equipped to answer any questions I had, which were many. After hearing Pastor Allen and the faithful witnessing of my friend I received Jesus Christ as my Savior. My friend has sadly passed away but I am eternally thankful for him. What a joy and blessing it is to again hear Pastor Allen preach. Thank you so much for making these available.
This site has been a blessing to me, and it brings back so many great memories. I was a Sunday School bus driver at Calvary from 1984 to 1990, and we were able to bring in many kids who might not have heard the gospel otherwise. I also drove bus for VBS. The word of God certainly was faithfully preached there!
